Purposefully Rising as a Leader is Hard.

David Fisher

When things are good. When there is peace and prosperity. When people are coming together. When energy and money is flowing. It’s easy to purposefully rise.

It’s easy when it’s easy.

When there are cold wars, hot wars, and trade wars. When good leadership is lacking. When self indulgent narcissists cause chaos and uncertainty, it’s hard to purposefully rise.

It’s hard when it’s hard.

Purposefully Rising as a leader is hard.

Eye-level view of a rugged mountain trail leading upwards
A rugged mountain trail symbolizes the journey of leadership and rising purposefully.

Anyone can be a leader when the road is smooth. It takes intention, empathy, and a steady hand when the road is rough. How much more so when there is no road at all?

I don’t know about you, but when I’m in the valley and see the mountain ahead of me, there is a part of me that just wants to hunker down and hide in the valley and wait until the mountain collapses.

That’s not purposefully rising. That’s not leadership.

Now is the time when leadership is desperately needed. The void - the valley - is large. The mountain appears unsurmountable and dangerous.

I remind myself that I need to start with the next step. Then the next. Then the next. I may stumble, but I will rise, and step again.

What about you? Will you rise and step with me? Will you allow us to link arms? Can we help each other take the mountain?

Take a deep breath my friends. We got this.
